Helping You Access The Support You Need

Our Veteran Service officers offer guidance on federal and state benefits, including compensation, pension, education, healthcare, and burial assistance. We also address the unique needs of veterans, such as alcohol and drug abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the CalVet College Fee Waiver for qualifying dependents.

Additionally, we manage Bob Hope Patriotic Hall, a community resource featuring meeting rooms, an auditorium, a gymnasium, and banquet facilities.

Hilda Solis

1st District Supervisor
Supervisor Solis, representing Los Angeles County’s First District, joined the Board in December, 2014. Throughout her career in public life, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of people.

Rocio V. Palmero

1st District Commissioner

A native Angeleno, Rocio joined the Navy when she was 17. She returned to Los Angeles and received her AA in Social Studies from Glendale Community College, Bachelor of Arts in American Studies with a double minor in Political Science and Spanish from Mount St. Mary’s University. She studied for her Master of Public Administration at Cal State University, Northridge.

 

Rocio has a diverse work history with concentrations in education and social work. She is currently the Program Coordinator for Women Vets on Point, U.S.VETS-Patriotic Hall.

With Veterans, Service Members, And Their Families

The LA County MVA supports veterans, Service Members, and their families by guiding them through federal and state benefits, including compensation, pensions, education, medical care, home loans, funeral benefits, and license plate designation. Our licensed Veterans Service Officers also provide referrals for mental health and addiction issues.
We manage Bob Hope Patriotic Hall, a 10-story facility offering conference rooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, industrial kitchens, and banquet halls available to veteran service non-profit organizations for free and other groups for rental.

About the Hall

Bob Hope Patriotic Hall (BHPH) is a 10-story building in downtown Los Angeles, home to the County of Los Angeles Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (MVA) and various veteran service partners.

The hall hosts around hundreds of veteran-related events each year, honoring and supporting those who have served. These include:

  • Veteran Workshops
  • Trainings
  • Outreach Efforts
  • Housing and Employment Opportunities
  • Job Fairs
  • Meetings and Press Conferences
