Military & Veterans Affairs Advisory Commission

The Veterans Advisory Commission meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 12:00pm.

The Advisory Commission provides guidance and support to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on veteran issues. The PACT Act and VA benefits

The PACT Act is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances.

The PACT Act adds to the list of health conditions that we assume (or “presume”) are caused by exposure to these substances. This law helps us provide generations of Veterans—and their survivors—with the care and benefits they’ve earned and deserve.

MVA and the VA can answer questions about what the PACT Act means for you or your loved ones. You can also call the VA at 800-698-2411 (TTY: 711). And you can file a claim for PACT Act-related disability compensation or apply for VA health care now.

Josh O’Brien, Stand-Up Comedian, Navy Sea Bee Veteran

Josh O’Brien was a U.S. Navy Seabee who reached out to MVA Veteran Service Officer Joel Castellanos, and was able to get the compensation he deserved after serving his Country.

Josh is a veteran who served as a Navy Seabee. The struggles he faced after his military career are all too common among veterans. “When you’re on active duty, you don’t have a whole lot of time to process what you go through, until the day you hang up your uniform”.

If you have ever served in the military, this is his message for you. Connect to your local Veteran Service Officer today at LA County Military & Veterans Affairs to learn what benefits and compensation you qualify for and be entered to WIN a $1,000 VISA GIFT CARD Click here
