LOS ANGELES, CA (August 11, 2025) – SoCal Grantmakers (SCG), in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (MVA), announced Aug. 11, 2025 that SHARE!, the Self-Help and Recovery Exchange, has been selected to implement the Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) Team in Supervisorial District Two (SD2).
“MVA is excited to work with SHARE to support the needs of veterans and their families in Supervisorial District 2 through our partnership with Southern California Grantmakers,” said MVA Director, Jim Zenner. “SHARE has an established and proven track record of providing quality peer support to some of our most marginalized veterans facing behavioral health challenges and experiencing homelessness.”
Founded in 1993, SHARE! is a peer-run nonprofit that provides housing, recovery programs, and peer-led support. The organization offers self-help support groups, collaborative housing and peer navigation, using lived experience to connect individuals with resources. As the newly contracted provider for VPAN SD2, SHARE! will link veterans to housing assistance, mental health care, substance use treatment, job placement and other services available through the network.
“SHARE! is thrilled to be selected as the Supervisorial District 2 provider for the Veterans Peer Access Network,” said SHARE! Chief Program Officer, Jason Robison. “SHARE! is eager to scale its expertise and peer specialist workforce, along with its direct services, SHARE! Collaborative Housing, the SHARE! Peer Respite, and Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialist training to serve veterans and military families in Los Angeles.”
Today, SHARE! launches its work to build the VPAN SD2 team, paving the way to open its doors to veterans in the community. In the weeks ahead, the organization will lay the groundwork to connect military-connected individuals with vital resources, services, and opportunities for support.
VPAN, led by MVA, is LA County’s first coordinated network of veteran peer services, pairing veterans with trained peer support specialists who share similar lived experiences to build trust and connect individuals to the right help at the right time. The addition of SHARE! as the VPAN SD2 provider marks a significant step in expanding the network’s reach, giving the military community more opportunities to access the resources and support they need to thrive.
