Kenneth Gonzalez Jr.
Supervisor, Veterans Claims Division
Kenneth Gonzales Jr. is a dedicated veterans advocate and U.S. Navy Veteran with a proven record of service to both his country and his community. He honorably served four years on active duty, including two years overseas and two years aboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) aircraft carrier. During his service, he achieved the rank of E-4 and earned the prestigious Golden Shellback Award twice for completing global voyages that crossed both the equator and the International Date Line during separate WestPac deployments.
During his time in the Navy, Kenneth developed a strong foundation in discipline, accountability, and teamwork. These principles continue to guide his leadership and commitment to veterans.
Following his Honorable Discharge, he remained deeply engaged in veteran service through more than a decade of active membership with the American Legion. Over the past seven years, he has served as both Post Service Officer and Post Adjutant, supporting veterans in navigating benefits and community resources. For the past five years, he has also served as Veterans Advisory Consultant to the City of Pico Rivera Veterans Commission, helping guide local veteran-focused initiatives and outreach efforts.
Before joining the Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Kenneth worked as an Area Supervisor in the bail bonds industry and as a Fugitive Recovery Agent. In that capacity, he also served as a Referral Agent to the Veterans Treatment Court, assisting justice-involved veterans in accessing treatment and support services in lieu of incarceration. His work reflects a consistent commitment to advocacy, rehabilitation, and expanding second-chance opportunities for those who served.
Kenneth’s career with MVA reflects steady advancement through hands-on service and leadership. He began as a VA Work-Study, entered County service through the Veterans’ Internship Program, and progressed through the ranks of Veterans Claims Assistant I, II, and III. He now serves as Supervisor of Veterans Claims, bringing frontline experience, institutional knowledge, and a veteran-centered approach to his leadership role.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Grand Canyon University.
Above all, Kenneth is most proud of his roles as a father, grandfather, and Veteran. These identities continue to inspire his dedication to service every day.
Kenneth now serves as Supervisor of Veterans Claims at MVA, where he leads efforts to support veterans and their families in navigating the benefits they have earned, strengthening access, accountability, and service delivery across the County.
